Discover the SIOP Europe Nursing Working Group

10/05/2022

In order to address the many challenges that paediatric oncology nursing faces, a group of nurses from across Europe founded the SIOP Europe Nursing Working Group. The group hopes to achieve equal standards of childhood cancer care, by addressing the differences in education and training for nurses, staffing levels, differing regulations and responsibilities as well as lack of resources for nursing services. The group hopes to facilitate collaboration, communication and exchange between nurses in Europe, to promote continued education tailored to paediatric oncology nurses and to foster advanced and evidence-based nursing practices and research.

The Working Group was launched on the occasion of the SIOPE Annual Meeting. Members of the newly founded group presented their work in the POLARIS project, as well as in the SIOP Europe Paediatric Palliative Care Group. The session closed with a series of project pitches that will be further discussed within the Working Group.
