News from the SIOPE Psychosocial Working Group

24/10/2023

Since its establishment in 2022, the Psychosocial Working Group has been on an impressive journey of growth and networking. By bringing together dedicated representatives engaged in projects related to psychosocial care and research, the Working Group is building a robust Europe-wide network.

One of the fundamental aims of this dynamic Working Group is to "Raise Awareness" about the nuances of psychosocial care and research—answering the what, how, when, and who of this critical field. Furthermore, the group is dedicated to growing this network with representatives from every corner of Europe. Together, they aspire to tackle psychosocial health disparities that persist across the continent.

In an exciting development, the Working Group recently convened an Open Network Meeting on Monday, 11 September 2023, from 13:00 to 15:00 (CET – local time in Brussels). This virtual gathering proved to be highly interactive and engaging. The meeting centered around two pivotal themes:

  • Mapping Psychosocial Care: The group delved into the ambitious task of mapping the locations of psychosocial workers across Europe, paving the way for better coordination and resource allocation.
  • Raising Awareness: Participants discussed strategies to effectively raise awareness about psychosocial care and broaden the reach to more members and professionals in the field across Europe.

If you share a passion for improving psychosocial care in Europe and wish to contribute your insights, we invite you to consider joining this Working Group. For additional information or to submit your application, click here.

Mark your calendars for the next Open Network Meeting, scheduled for December. We extend a warm invitation to all psychosocial professionals engaged in research and/or care, particularly those working with children and adolescents facing cancer and their families. Your valuable input can help shape the future of psychosocial care in Europe.
