SIOP Europe Course in Paediatric Oncology
We are very pleased to announce that we selected 60 participants for the 2nd SIOP Europe Course in Paediatric Oncology among the 100+ excellent applications we received! The 60 participants are from all over Europe, including WHO-defined European countries.
The first module of the Course will take place 9-12 July 2025 in Mechelen, Belgium.
Participants will work in small working groups on carefully chosen cases, including neuroblastoma, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), kidney tumours, and Hodgkin lymphoma. Speakers will cover topics such as genetic predisposition, anti-infectious prophylaxis, and treatment, milestones in ALL therapy, neuroblastoma, rhabdoid tumours, malignant cytomorphology, statistics, and late effects. In addition, there is a special focus on a workshop about communication with parents and patients.

Young SIOPE and ERN PaedCan Webinars – 7 cases for 2025 selected!
The Young SIOPE and ERN PaedCan Interactive Webinar Series on Most Challenging cases in Paediatric Oncology has been a huge success since it started in 2021! In 2025, 7 challenging clinical cases were chosen for interactive webinars, in which a young oncologist will present the case, followed by a live discussion with an invited expert, and moderated by a member of the steering committee.
The first webinar of the year, on “Rare but relevant – colon carcinoma and cancer predisposition in childhood”, occurred on 15 January.
On 18 February 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM (CET), the second webinar of the year will take place, titled “Disseminated adenovirus disease after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, the role of Cytotoxic T lymphocyte therapy”. The speaker will be Paula Mazzora from Spain, and the expert will be Tobias Feuchtinger from Germany.

Virtual Courses
The SIOP Europe Palliative Care Working Group, together with Young SIOPE will organise a course on “Embracing Palliative Care in Paediatric Oncology from the Diagnosis Onwards” on 14-15 March 2025.
Applications to attend this Course are now closed, however stay tuned for information about a second virtual course taking place in autumn 2025 on Causes and epidemiology of childhood cancer - the role of genetic predisposition and environment.
SIOP Europe Annual Meeting
The SIOP Europe Educational Steering Committee is organising 4 exciting educational sessions during the 6th SIOP Europe Annual Meeting taking place 12-16 May 2025 in Budapest, Hungary.
Topics include:
- Monday: Fungal infections in pediatric oncology: Primary prophylaxis, therapy and new drugs: Thomas Lehrnbecher
- Tuesday: Acute pancreatitis, thromboembolism and osteonecrosis in children with ALL: what is the evidence for daily routine: Kjeld Schmiegelow
- Thursday: Symptom control in pediatric cancer patients: Ana Lacerda
- Friday: Solid tumors in neonates and infants: differential diagnoses and diagnostic/therapeutic approaches: Speaker to be confirmed
Alumni of the 1st SIOP Europe Course in Paediatric Oncology and of the 1st SIOP Europe Student Summer School are invited to attend a dedicated session at the SIOP Europe Annual Meeting:

- SIOP Europe Summer School: Tuesday 13 May, from 16.00 – 17.30.

ESCP Webinars, in which we explain the new European clinical recommendations for best practice for each childhood cancer. Webinars and recordings are here.
ESO-SIOP Europe e-Learning pathways covering topics in paediatric oncology. Each 45-minute e-Session is presented by leading oncology experts. Recordings remain freely available on demand for further visits here. In 2025, 2 sessions will be added, on cancer predisposition and prevention, and on post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders. A recent session on “infant ALL” has been added to the already existing collection of presentations.
Feedback and suggestions for future topics and pathways are highly appreciated.
Syllabus in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
Recently, a final version of the Syllabus of the European Training Requirements for competency in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology, a joint work by EHA and SIOP Europe, has been submitted to the European Academy of Paediatrics and will hopefully become available soon for our community and NaPHOS.
