The European Society for Paediatric Oncology – SIOPE in cooperation with Childhood Cancer International Europe – CCI-E is honoured to invite you to the 2024 edition of our annual International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) event, Tuesday 13 February 2024 (17:00 – 19:00) at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, Room ANTALL 6Q1. The event is hosted by MEP Stelios Kympouropolous (EPP, EL).
Every year, SIOPE gathers our valued partners and stakeholders on the premises of the European Parliament to mark the day internationally dedicated to childhood cancer (ICCD - 15th February).
This edition of ICCD will present the manifesto of the European paediatric haematology-oncology community ahead of the next European Parliament and Commission terms and seek the perspectives of key stakeholders on advancing the vision of a Europe where no child dies of cancer.
Paediatric cancer remains a significant public health concern in Europe, accounting for a considerable portion of childhood mortality and contributing to long-term health challenges for survivors. Despite advancements, there is a necessity for continuous coordinated efforts at the EU level to combat this life-threatening disease.
Key stakeholders will share their leading perspectives on the vision for childhood cancer in flagship EU initiatives such as Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Cancer mission. Furthermore, they will present their outlooks on the future, especially on forthcoming legislation like the Pharmaceutical Legislation and the European Health Data Space, as well as on upcoming budgetary considerations like the negotiation of the Multiannual Financial Framework (2028-2034) in view of how they can further accelerate progress for childhood cancer survivors and their families.
