The SIOP Europe AYA Committee provides strategic and direction-forming input into existing networks and groups such as ENTAC and the ESMO SIOPE AYA Working Group. It liaises with professional and patient organisations to bring AYA issues onto the political agenda.
The Committee organized a session at the SIOPE Annual Meeting in which the next steps in research, training and policy were discussed, as well as the important role of the nursing community in AYA cancer Care. The need for a partnership will professionals in the psychology and social care sphere, as well as with patients, family, partners and friends was highlighted.
The SIOP Europe AYA Committee consists of Andrea Ferrari (chair, Italy), Johan De Munter (Belgium), Valerie Laurence (France), Paola Quarello (Italy), Owen Smith (Chair-elect, Ireland), Dan Stark (UK), as well as four Young SIOPE members Eva Brack (Switzerland), Morgane Cleirec (France), Maria Otth (Switzerland) and Paula Perez (Spain).
The Committee would like to thank outgoing committee members Stefan Bielack, Katarzyna Derwich, Uta Dirksen and Lars Hjorth for their excellent contribution to the AYA Committee. They will continue as advisors.
