President's Letter Spring 2024

22/04/2024

Dear colleagues, members, and partners,

We are delighted to present the latest developments within the European childhood cancer community since our last newsletter earlier this year. Across the first quarter of 2024, our efforts have been met with remarkable achievements and ongoing initiatives.

A notable highlight was the successful organization of the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) 2024 event at the European Parliament on 13 February. During this event, SIOP Europe and CCI Europe presented the European Elections Manifesto 2024 for the paediatric oncology and haematology community. Ever since, MEPs and organisations have proudly endorsed the Manifesto, and you can stay up to date with all the received support here.

For those who were unable to attend the ICCD 2024 event featuring high-level speakers, we invite you to watch the event highlights video below.

In the beginning of April, we dedicated efforts to raising awareness during the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Week 2024 from 1-5 April, aligning with our commitment to enhance understanding of AYA cancer. We are excited to continue this important campaign next year. Additionally, World Health Worker Week in April provided an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the impactful contributions made by health workers daily. We extend our deepest gratitude to you, for your dedication towards our mission to cure more, cure better, and eradicate inequalities.

Upcoming SIOP Europe Annual Meeting 2024

We extend our appreciation to the SIOP Europe Working Groups (WGs) for their significant contributions to the Annual Meeting programme. If attending, be sure to explore these sessions to learn how WGs address the unmet needs of childhood cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

Still having doubts about your registration? Dive into our "Why Attend" mini-podcast series where we delve into the heart of the matter and include different stakeholder perspectives on why participation is important.

Furthermore, in this edition of our newsletter, we invite you to delve into updates on ongoing projects, policy activities, educational initiatives, working groups, and more. We hope you enjoy reading the latest news from SIOP Europe.
