Next year is also the final year of another one of our main EU-funded projects: PanCareSurFup, the ‘PanCare Childhood and Adolescent Cancer Survivor Care and Follow-Up Studies’ project. PancareThe final PanCareSurFup International Conference aimed at stakeholders, policy makers and scientists, will take place on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th May 2016 at the Thon EU Hotel in Brussels, Belgium. All project partners and interested people are invited to attend this important meeting, where most of the results achieved will be presented and discussed. More practical information will be circulated closer to the event date. The project is steadily progressing, in spite of the complexities in accessing older patient records and getting all the necessary permissions from both national and regional regulatory bodies to receive the necessary data for the research studies foreseen. Regular web meetings are held to keep track of the progress, while guidelines on male and female gonadal toxicity for survivors are under development. A PanCareSurFup General Assembly took place in Lucerne, Switzerland, from 8th to 10th October 2014. During this successful meeting, hosted by Gisela Michel in a location surrounded by mountains, impressive updates from the Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry and Survivor Studies, the Czech ‘My new life project’, a German internet-based information portal dedicated to childhood cancer, transition programmes and the contribution of the nursing staff to the long-term follow-up of childhood cancer survivors were presented. Project leaders and partners from PanCareSurFup, PanCareLIFE and ENCCA WP13 reported about the current results of the project, the ongoing process of guidelines’ development, survivors/parents’ issues and future plans. The last PanCareSurFup General Assembly (26th-27th May 2015) took place in Dublin, Ireland, hosted by Julianne Byrne, Patricia McColgan and Garry Owens as local organisers. More information:
