Follow-up to ySIOPE Webinar - Publish or Perish? Try Publish and Flourish!
On January 21st, Young SIOPE held a webinar session to explore the topic of submitting manuscripts and publishing effectively. To this effect we had the pleasure to host Prof. Rob Pieters, Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Cancer Paediatric Oncology, and guest speaker Aisling Murphy, Executive Publisher at Elsevier Publications. With an audience of almost 70 people we were able to combine the longstanding expertise of both speakers with a relaxed and informative conversation. Over the period of 1 hour we learned more about some of the following topics:
- The importance of having a clear writing plan before starting to write
- The value of conveying an innovative or strong message right from the abstract in order to pique the interest of the editor/reviewer
- How to choose the right paper and how to interact with reviewers
- How important it is to find a quiet state of mind (sometimes without internet/emails, etc...) to improve the writing flow
Altogether the session provided us with tips and advice on how to constructively approach a manuscript submission and, hopefully, will prove useful in our future work.
Exciting Sessions Await at the 2025 SIOPE Annual Meeting in Budapest!
The upcoming 2025 SIOPE Annual Meeting promises a dynamic exchange of knowledge through its Joint Sessions, featuring collaborative discussions between Young SIOPE members and leading experts from various European Clinical Trials Groups (ECTGs) and Working Groups (WGs). Key joint sessions include Hodgkin Lymphoma, ECHO, Palliative Care, SIOPEN, EWOG and a joint EuroEwing Consortium, FOSTER, and PanCare session.
Additionally, in the programme will be present 4 educational sessions, as well as opportunities for networking in the Young SIOPE Corner. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!
