SIOP Europe is pleased to report on the recent secondment of the TREL Project team, a collaboration aimed at enhancing research excellence in the field of paediatric solid tumours. The TREL project aims to increase the research excellence of the VULSK and to enhance its reputation, attractiveness and networking channels in the field of paediatric solid tumours.

As part of this collaborative effort, the TREL Project team engaged in a secondment at the SIOPE office on 5-7 September 2023. During this time, the team participated in a series of training sessions designed to enhance their expertise in project management and communications.

 

The TREL Secondment at SIOPE: A Learning Experience

  • General presentation about SIOPE: The TREL team received insights into SIOPE's mission, vision, and operational framework, gaining a deeper understanding of the organization's role in the paediatric oncology community.
  • Presentation about the Lithuanian Experience in Project Management: The TREL VULSK team shared their approach and past experiences with managing projects.
  • Project Lifecycle: Search, Writing, and Submission: This session covered the comprehensive lifecycle of research projects, from screening to submission. A special focus was on EU project management.
  • EU Portal Exercise: The team explored the European Union's portal system, an essential tool for project funding and collaboration.
  • Communication & Dissemination Training: This session emphasized the importance of communication and dissemination, as one of the most critical activities for making a meaningful impact in the field of paediatric oncology. Best practices were shared throughout the entire session.
  • Social Media and Cool Tools Training: Staying abreast of the latest tools and trends in digital communication is paramount in the modern world. Therefore, this session covered effective digital communication strategies, including social media and cool tools.

 

Beyond Training: Social Engagement

Beyond these training sessions, the TREL VULSK team also had the opportunity to engage in several social events, aligning with the SIOPE Gold September Campaign 2023. These events not only expanded their professional network but also contributed to raising awareness about childhood cancer.
