News from the SIOPE Host Genome Working Group

29/01/2024

The identification of Cancer Predisposition Syndromes (CPSs) has proven to be a challenging puzzle. Often, patients harboring these syndromes slip through the cracks in routine clinical practice. Once identified, counseling and care for patients with these syndromes presents further challenges to busy clinicians.

Therefore, the SIOPE Host Genome Working Group endorses the SCOPE Project. The SCOPE project, short for "Survey on Cancer Predisposition Identification & Observation Practice in Europe” aims to identify how patients are screened for CPSs, how they get diagnosed, and what surveillance they receive. Through a better understanding of current practices, we hope to improve care for patients and families with CPSs.

A Comprehensive Series of Surveys Unveiling the Landscape of CPS Care

SCOPE is set up as a series of short surveys. SCOPE is a participatory project to assess and then redefine how we approach pediatric cancer patients with CPSs. As the survey series progresses, we encourage healthcare providers to participate actively, contributing to the transformation of CPS care. We encourage every healthcare specialist in the field of pediatric oncology/hematology to please participate in this project and contribute to this joint effort here.
