The inaugural term of the SIOPE Psychosocial Working Group has come to a successful conclusion, with over 30 members participating. Moreover, we are delighted with the many collaborations we have been able to establish with other interdisciplinary working groups during this first phase and are more than happy to have had the opportunity to participate as psychosocial project partners in various joint projects or educational initiatives. A particular highlight was the joint submission of a new, Europe-wide project to strengthen psychosocial care throughout Europe.
All of this has exceeded our expectations for the new SIOPe Psychosocial Working Group, and we are deeply grateful to everyone in the SIOPe and CCIe communities and beyond who have paved the way and continue to collaborate with us. At the same time, we recognise that much remains to be done to ensure psychosocial care becomes standard for everyone who needs it. With this in mind, our new steering committee is ready to move things forward with new energy and we warmly welcome our new members: Chiara Besani from Ireland and Maria Teresa Ferrer Togores from Spain (more information about the group, our activities and goals can be found on the SIOPe website).
At the same time, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the members of the inaugural steering committee, whose commitment made this promising start possible: above all Liesa Weiler-Wichtl, Gisela Michel, Thomas Traunwieser, Carina Schneider and Anne-Sophie Darlington. We are confident that our cooperation will continue in the future!
The next opportunity to meet in person and work together on our upcoming goals is the annual SIOPe meeting in Budapest. After that, we will continue to have online “Open Member meetings”.
Stay tuned!
