News from MONALISA

05/11/2024

The MONALISA project, launched in January 2024, has made significant progress in its 11 months of operation.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to enhance the monitoring of children with relapsed neuroblastoma using liquid biopsies. Its objectives include early relapse detection, personalized treatment options, and improved patient outcomes, while also integrating digital decision support tools and patient-centred care to reduce healthcare costs.

A key milestone was achieved with the establishment of a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in April 2024. The SAB comprises a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including:

  • Prof. Meredith Irwin from The Hospital for Sick Children (CA) – SAB Chair
  • Prof. Anne-Sophie Darlington from the University of Southampton (UK)
  • Prof. Andy Pearson from the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital England (UK)

The first SAB meeting, held online on October 25th, provided an opportunity to update members on scientific aspects and results. We extend our gratitude to the SAB members for sharing their insights and supporting the MONALISA consortium in achieving its goal of developing state-of-the-art precision medicine and minimally invasive diagnostic tools for high-risk neuroblastoma in children, thereby contributing to their quality of life.

We are pleased to report that MONALISA and its initial results have been presented to the scientific community across Europe and North America, including events such as the SIOPE Annual Meeting 2023 (IT), the SIOPEN General Assembly 2024 (LT), the Greek Haematology and Oncology Conference 2024 (GR), the PhD Summer School in Berlin (DE) and the COG Spring Meeting 2024 (USA). The positive feedback received from various stakeholders is truly encouraging and motivates us to continue our work with dedication and excellence.

We invite all SIOP Europe community’ stakeholders to follow our updates and news in the future. There are several ways to reach us and stay connected:
