What is EU-CAYAS-NET

EU-CAYAS-NET is the EU Network of Youth Cancer Survivors, funded by the EU4Health programme of Horizon Europe. There are 9 beneficiaries (BEN, entities receiving EU funding) and 32 Associated Partners (AP, entities not receiving EU funding). The project is Coordinated by CCI Europe, with Youth Cancer Europe.

Aim of the Project

The aim of the Youth Cancer Survivors (EU-CAYAS-NET) to establish an EU Network of Youth Cancer Survivors by bringing together existing stakeholder organisations, and through this network, improve social networking and develop a Platform to improve links amongst individuals, patients, CAYA cancer survivors, carers, researchers, and social and health professionals active in cancer prevention and care across the Union.

The project will help deliver on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan commitment to put childhood cancer under the spotlight and improve the quality of life for survivors, with synergies across a number of Flagship initiatives and other activities in Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

Kick-off Meeting

The EU-CAYAS-NET project had its official kick-off meeting on 26 – 27 September 2022 in Barcelona, where all the consortium, 42 different key stakeholders participated in a virtual or in person manner. During the Kick off meeting the Lead beneficiaries shared their ideas and thoughts on the implementation phase of the project and a discussion took place.

Role of SIOP Europe

SIOP Europe will be involved in different Work Packages (WPs) and support all the related activities like workgroups, peer study visits, position paper, survey etc  with the knowledge and the experience of our group members.
During the implementation phase of the project and specifically under WP4, an online Roundtable will be organised by SIOP Europe, with the support of YCE, CCI Europe, PMC, MUV, FJD/HSJD and PanCare to engage in dialogue between healthcare professionals and young cancer survivors that results in joint practical recommendations for clinical practice and policies for the treatment and care of adolescent and young adults with cancer.
Invited participants include policy leads and Board members of European Associations of Healthcare professionals, including medical oncologists, surgeons, radiotherapists and radiologists and cancer nurses as Beating Cancer Plan implementers DG Santé, Commissioner for Health and European Parliament Members.
