This 13th February  SIOPE, in partnership with Childhood Cancer International – Europe (CCI Europe) , has the pleasure to invite you to the International Childhood Cancer Day 2024 Event in the EU Parliament with the title: “Launching the European Paediatric Cancer Community Manifesto: Cure More, Cure Better and Tackle Inequalities.” The Event will be hosted by MEP Stelios Kympouropoulos (Greece, EPP), SANT  Committee member and political Co-Chair of the Network of Parliamentary Advocates for Rare Diseases as well as MEP champion in Together for Rare Diseases multi-stakeholder platform.

This edition of the annual ICCD meeting will officially launch the European Elections 2024 Manifesto of the paediatric haematology-oncology community and foster multi-stakeholder discussion on how to Cure More, Cure Better and Tackle Inequalities - towards Zero Deaths and Zero Late Effects.

The Panel discussion will focus on Inequalities in Childhood Cancer across Europe, breaking down the topic in three sections on equal access to high quality care, equal access to research and innovation and equal access to data. Moreover, the discussion will highlight the findings of the OCEAN project, which mapped the organisation of care and research in Europe, providing an overview of the paediatric cancer centers involved in the care and research for children and adolescents with cancer across Europe.

The Event will bring together experts from academia, patient advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders to drive conversations and actionable strategies toward curing paediatric cancer in Europe. The call to action directed towards MEPs will urge their support in policy changes, resource allocation, and collaborative efforts necessary to address the multifaceted challenges of paediatric cancer.

The launch of the manifesto will mark a pivotal moment to catalyse change, emphasizing the urgency of uniting efforts and resources to combat paediatric cancer and improve the lives of affected children and their families throughout Europe.
