After the launch of the project in May, a number of important activities have already started. As co-leader of WP4 on Scientific advice, feasibility and innovation, SIOP Europe is actively involved in the work aimed at providing strategic feasibility advice to sponsors on the rationale for a clinical development plan as well as in the setting-up of multi-stakeholder paediatric strategy meetings in several diseases following the successful examples of the ACCELERATE Paediatric Forums.
In this regard, SIOP Europe attended the first WP4 face to face meeting taking place on the 18th of September at Schiphol airport with the participation of more than 40 participants from Academia, Industry and Representatives of patients and parents. The event was co-organised by Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen (RUMC) and Fondazione PENTA, partners discussed extensively the current status of WP4.
Among the presentations included were examples of how clinical expert and methodology expert groups can be set up as well as patients’ and parents’ involvement. It was the perfect occasion to define efficient synergies and for partners to reaffirm their full commitment to the planned work ahead, representing a key opportunity to pave the way for the success of WP4 moving forward.
