On 18-19 November 2013, the Biotherapy Development Association (BDA) Paediatric Oncology Workshop on 'Improving oncology drug development for children and adolescents' will take place in Paris, France. The goal of this workshop is to provide an action plan to increase the likelihood of children and adolescents with cancer benefitting from both the EU Paediatric Medicines Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1901/2006) and EU-funded structuring activities. Representatives from academia, the pharmaceutical industry, the European Medicine Agency (EMA), the EMA Paediatric Committee, Government bodies, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) as well as parents and patients are expected to attend this meeting, to discover the recent advances in the field of paediatric oncology drug development. This critical evaluation of the impact of the EU Regulation is really relevant with a view to proposing solutions to identified bottlenecks and hurdles.
