A New Decision-Making Body for Clinical Research

24/02/2016
As announced during the last SIOPE CRC Meeting during the ENCCA General Assembly (19th December 2015, Brussels, Belgium), our community would like to renew the structure of the SIOPE Clinical Research Council (SIOPE CRC, formerly known as “ECRC”).SIOPE CRC This key decision-making body expresses the unified voice of our professional and research community in Europe, by representing the point of view of all paediatric haematology-oncology clinical trial groups and national societies. The community decided that SIOPE CRC should be composed of members coming from the different National Paediatric Haemato-Oncology Societies (NaPHOS) and European Clinical Trial Groups (ECTGs) in Europe. In December it was also decided that there won’t be one Chair of the Council, but there should be one “Main Representative” per each of the two categories represented, namely NaPHOS and ECTGs. To this aim, SIOPE successfully invited the Chairs and leaders of both NaPHOS and ECTGs to indicate who will become the only member representing each group/society in the new CRC. The membership process has been currently finalized, and the renewed Council today is composed of 48 prominent representatives of the paediatric haematology-oncology field in Europe. After welcoming all new members, SIOPE launched a call for nomination for the two co-leading persons (“Main Representatives”) amongst the new SIOPE CRC Membership. This call resulted in the successful nomination of ten distinguished candidates from our community. Our Society is now going to proceed with the first vote of this new Council, whose outcome will be the election of the two “Main Representatives” (co-leaders) who will be in charge of jointly coordinating and leading the activities of the renewed Council. The results of these elections will be communicated to the community in the course of the month of March 2016. Should you need more information on this call for nominations process, please do not hesitate to contact the SIOPE Office (office@siope.eu).
