Embracing Palliative Care in Paediatric Oncology from the Diagnosis Onwards

A Course by the SIOP Europe Palliative Care Working Group and Young SIOPE

14-15 March 2025 (online)

Paediatric palliative care aims to support children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, from the time of diagnosis. Early integration within oncology has been recognised as having benefits for all involved, whatever the outcome may be. Through improved communication and advance care planning, it enables user-centred care, where concerns about quality of life, preferences and values are given the same relevance as cutting-edge therapy.

During the course all areas of palliative care will be covered starting from early integration, symptom control, advance care planning, end of life care to bereavement care. Keynote lectures by leaders in the field, roundtable discussions and small group work will be delivered – preparation and active participation are mandatory for this course.
