About #SIOPEurope 2024
We were delighted to welcome the SIOP Europe and CCI Europe community for the 5th edition of the SIOP Europe Annual Meeting, which took place 13-17 May 2024 in Milan, Italy. This unique meeting allowed us to come together once again to network, collaborate, share knowledge, meet old and new friends, get to know the young generation of paediatric oncologists, as well as exchange with the parent and survivors community.
SIOPE Europe would like to express our deep gratitude to all meeting sponsors and partners, the Operations and Scientific Committees, the local organising committee, and the faculty and participants who all contributed to the success of the 5th SIOP Europe Annual meeting.
Facts & Statistics
- Attendance statistics: 1552 participants from across 68 delegate countries.
- Programme statistics: 133 sessions, including 94 open/joint sessions, 28 operational sessions, 4 educational sessions, and 323 faculty members.
- Meeting partners and participants showed their full support for this edition, with a record 1552 delegates joining the meeting - a 32% increase from last year. SIOP Europe members represented 24% of the attendees. The remaining participants were international healthcare professionals (36%), young oncologists (8%), parent, patient and survivor representatives (7%), nurses and psychosocial professionals (7%) and sponsors. The majority of participants were based in Europe (88%).
- Approximately 50% of participants were paediatric oncologists, 7% were basic and translational researchers, 5% nurses, 4% paediatricians, 4% radiation oncologists and 3.5% patient affairs advocates.
- This year, 19 European Clinical Trial Groups and 8 SIOP Europe Working Groups held open or joint sessions, exchanged best practice, presented results in their respective fields and made plans for the future. A total of 133 sessions took place, including 4 educational sessions, 20 joint sessions, 105 open sessions, 5 plenary sessions, 4 satellite symposia, as well as 28 operational meetings.
