Dr Deborah Gubler is a paediatrician specialised in paediatric palliative care (PPC), currently practicing in Zurich, Switzerland. She completed her medical studies at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain. To expand her expertise in PPC, she undertook fellowship training at the Westmead Children’s Hospital, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Dr Gubler obtained her Master of Science degree from Cardiff University, Wales, with a thesis focusing on perinatal and neonatal palliative care, specifically examining the local context and screening for PPC needs.
Dr Gubler has been part of the research group of the Neonatal Research Centre and the University Children’s Hospital /University of Zurich, where she also contributes to the supervision of master’s students. She co-initiated Switzerland’s first Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) programme und is co-programme lead.
Since 2020, she has served as co-chair of the multiprofessional Swiss paediatric palliative care network (PPCN CH). Additionally, Dr Gubler is a member of the steering group for the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) Reference Group for Children and Young People.
