SIOP Europe Physical Activity and Exercise Therapy Working Group

The Physical Activity and Exercise Therapy Working Group focuses on promoting and implementing safe, evidence-based physical activity and exercise programs for children and adolescents with and beyond childhood cancer. Despite upcoming scientific evidence and existing international guidelines, significant gaps remain in translating this knowledge into clinical practice across Europe.

The group brings together researchers, clinicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, survivors, and patient/parent representatives to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and networking. Its aim is to reduce inequalities in access to exercise programs, support the dissemination of best practices, and improve long-term health outcomes and quality of life.

By facilitating cross-national cooperation and creating a platform for multicentre research, the working group also seeks to advance the evidence base in paediatric exercise oncology and support the development of sustainable, standardized care across Europe.
