María Avilés is a nurse from Spain. Since completing her nursing studies, she has worked in various units in both Spain and England.  
In 2019, she joined the Comprehensive Paediatric Palliative Care Unit at Hospital Universitario Niño Jesús, where she worked for nearly six years. 
She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Degree program at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where she teaches about Palliative Care, among other subjects. 
She holds a Master of Science in Perinatal and Childhood Care and a PhD. María is actively involved in research and professional training in Paediatric Palliative Care.
