Gold September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
Did you know that:
- There are 35,000 new cases of childhood cancer in Europe each year.
- Over 6,000 children and young people are dying every year in Europe from childhood cancer.
- There are up to 20% differences in survival of children with cancer amongst European regions due to unequal access to the best standard care and research.
- Almost 500,000 survivors of childhood cancer live in Europe today, however, most of them experience adverse late effects limiting their well-being and participation in society.
During Gold September- Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we raise our voices, more than ever we recognize the young paediatric oncology patients at global and European scale.

Manneken Pis will be wearing JANUE!
A dear tradition to SIOPE, dressing the iconic landmark of Brussels as a Paediatric Oncologist has become a staple among the activities dedicated to raising awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Join us on September 8, at 12:00 PM, in the heart of Brussels at the Manneken Pis square to admire the creation of the talented fashion designer behind the JANUE label, Céline Van den Bossche.
With the support of City of Brussels, Manneken Pis will be honoring the childhood cancer community during Gold September.
SIOPE is grateful to be able to continue this tradition, and for having the opportunity to reach out to a broad audience by raising awareness all year round. The paediatric oncologist costume is stored in the GardeRobe MannekenPis Museum before and after the event.
