The SIOPE Ambassador Network was launched during Gold September. It currently counts 53 Ambassadors from 28 SIOPE countries.
This new SIOPE initiative was first presented at the Annual Meeting in Milan this year. Since then, 53 Ambassadors have joined the Network from 28 SIOPE member countries. Their goal is to influence EU policies at the national level. In particular, the Ambassadors target the Council of the EU (EPSCO), where the health ministers of each member state are represented, by lobbying their health ministries in their respective home countries. The Council is currently discussing the revision of the EU pharmaceutical legislation.
Our Ambassadors will convey the Childhood Cancer Communities priority topics, such as equal access to medicines and initiatives for more development of childhood cancer medicines, to the Council representatives at the national level. The network will furthermore support SIOPE's outreach to the EU Commission with a variety of responses to EU consultations, reflecting the national needs of each member state.
In addition, they will support the SIOPE office's advocacy efforts in the EU Parliament, by contacting their national MEPs on key health issues. In order to collaborate effectively, the whole network will stay connected through its own online platform. The advocacy efforts of the SIOPE Ambassadors will be presented at the next Annual Meeting in Budapest.
