The SIOPE Radiation Oncology Working Group was created in 2019, chaired by Tom Boterberg, Geert Janssens and now by Anne Laprie.
This group has the goal to optimize paediatric radiation oncology in Europe.
The members of this group consist mainly of radiation oncologists as well as other professionals linked with paediatric radiation oncology, such as anesthesiologists, radiation therapists, radio-physicists, and play specialists.
We have dedicated time and energy to involve professionals from all European countries and drove several surveys in order to optimize the techniques used in radiation oncology. The subjects of these multiple surveys were image guided radiotherapy (standard use, development of new techniques), craniopharyngioma treatment, and access to general anesthesia for paediatric radiotherapy.
These surveys were used for publications, and several working groups are now preparing recommendations on these subjects.
This group has already held four successful meetings at the SIOPE Annual Conference, and the members of this group are also involved in the other SIOPE working groups.
