News from the SIOPE Imaging Working Group

29/01/2024

As we enter the new year of 2024, the SIOPE Imaging Working Group steering committee can now look back on a fruitful first year. We successfully organized an inaugural open session during the SIOP Europe Annual Meeting 2023 in Valencia, strengthened collaborations with the Taskforce Oncology of the ESPR and Pediatric Committee of the EANM, and initiated the development of a centralized digital imaging repository within the SIOPE framework for all children with cancer participating in European clinical and imaging trials.

During this new year, we aim to finalize the project proposal for the digital imaging repository including a list of most suitable platforms, and apply for funding. Furthermore, we are happy to announce that we will organize an open session entitled “New developments in paediatric oncological imaging and image-guided interventions” during the upcoming SIOP Europe Annual Meeting 2024 in Milan, Italy, on Wednesday May 15, 10.30-12.30. This will be a joint session together with the EANM paediatric committee. The session will cover lectures on the present state and future adcancements in Nuclear Medicine imaging and therapies (theranostics), Whole Body MRI, and Oncological Interventional Radiology. Last but not least, starting in 2024 the steering committee would like to organize at least two business meetings per year for which all members of the Imaging Working Group will be invited to inform them about ongoing projects, receive feedback, and discuss potential new topics and projects. The first (hybrid) open business meeting will be planned during the SIOP Europe Annual Meeting 2024 in Milan on Wednesday May 15, 8.30-10.00.

We are still on the lookout for enthusiastic and committed colleagues across Europe, both imaging-related health professionals as well as professionals from other disciplines, involved in diagnostic imaging, and image-guided interventions and therapies in children with cancer to join the SIOPE Imaging Working Group!
