TREL Workshops for training of early stage researchers in research methodology.
As part of the TREL Project, which aims to increase the research excellence at VULSK, four workshops were held with the purpose of teaching young scientists involved in the management of childhood cancer strong research design and conduction skills.
176 participants, including early stage researchers, trainees, fellows and medical students with an interest in conducting research, participated in the workshops which were delivered by experienced researchers from VULSK and Institut Gustave Roussy (IGR), with the goal of knowledge dissemination and potentially fueling the participants’ interest in scientific activities.
The workshops covered topics including principles of biomedical research, types of research studies, basics of scientific writing, early phase clinical trials in paediatrics, and response assessment for solid tumours.
The participant feedback following the workshops was very positive and all participants rated the events as useful for their professional careers.
Following the workshops, a written summary of recommendations on proper research design and conduction was produced based on the course content and made available in Lithuanian via the VULSK web page: https://www.santa.lt/horizontas-2020-programa
